On 11 and 12 July, 29 Heads of State and government gathered in NATO’s headquarters in Brussels for a summit.
Objective: strengthening our collective security.

In fact, the Commission wants to limit its costs while also targeting new resources to fund this new budget, in the constrained context of Brexit. Indeed, EU aims at ensuring the continuity of its flagship policies (research and innovation, youth, security) and develop new priorities (digital, defence). It is an ambitious goal, that the Council and the European Parliament will soon examine. This two institutions will have to adopt and vote before the next European elections in May 2019.

The aim was to reach joint commitments related to the digital future of Europe, in order to encourage investment in European digital technologies and infrastructures, notably AI, digital healthcare and blockchain.
